We have a long and wide windowsill in our kitchen. Like everything else in this flat, it's on a funny angle, sloping gently towards the floor. Still, we are coaxing a new crop of plants upon it: organic pepper plants, a sad little snowpea and some stringy sage all rescued from B&Q. There's a tall and quiet aloe that's there for when I inevitably burn myself.
(Ugh. I have to stop this post because Born to Run just came on BBC 2 and although I am making various unpleasant noises to indicate that this is one of my least favourite songs ever, J is still singing and dancing around the kitchen. I can't think. Oh, he's changed it to BBC 4. Sober news. So much better. Something about tree crops.)
Anyway, we also have a bushy lavender sitting outside. It's there in case the bees are interested and because J hates the smell (!). I've already almost killed it, but fortunately I heard it crying when I got home from work and quickly gave it a drink. I hope it's not expecting too many dry hot days.
The coming basil, rocket and coriander are really exciting, though. They're growing in one of those plastic nurseries right now. Little seeds sprout so fast! We just pushed them into the dirt on Sunday afternoon and the rocket is already poking through and stretching out. When I spoke to J this afternoon I made him give me a seedling update. He's not so sure abour the basil and coriander, but I've been reassuring him that they're just a little slower; they need a bit more time. Stop having unrealistic expectations.
You can check up on them every 15 minutes and they'll look different. It's enthralling and probably the most exciting thing in my life right now. I might set up a webcam for when I'm at work. Then I might try going out and getting a life. I think I at least need a beer. J just passed me one. All the earlier Boss-related activity is forgiven.
Good night!
It's so nice to have you do all of the research for us. It makes our decision making so much easier!! Thanks.

I can't believe you just wrote "hate on". Well, it's your fault. You must have played him on a perticularly traumatic car trip. I think I really just hate the "Born" period, anyway, but I've never been all that interested in finding out.
