Glasgow Farmers' Market Schedule for 2008

Glasgow has a farmers' market that operates from the thoroughly civillized times of 10 AM -2 PM every Saturday. The location of the market alternates between Mansfield Park at the corner of Hyndland Street and Dumbarton Road (on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month) and just inside the main entrance of Queen's Park (on the 1st and 3rd Saturday). It would appear that if there is a fifth Saturday in a given month, the market just doesn't happen. City Council hasn't released the new schedule of dates yet, but this should be an accurate guide still. I'll varify as soon as possible.

The  market is a great place for meats, baked goods and incredible jams. It doesn't have too many fruit and vegetable stands, but the ones that are there have pretty stuff. Nothing makes you feel better than waking up on the weekend and going to the market and eating a newly made quiche. I especially recommend the one in Queen's Park because the setting is so charming.

****UPDATE***** Starting on February 23rd, the market will be held at Dowanhill Primary School (30 Havelock St, just west of Byres Road) on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month.
